THE THIRD INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF THE WORLD SOCIETY FOR THE STUDY, PRESERVATION AND POPULARIZATION OF THE CULTURAL LEGACY OF UZBEKISTAN

On August 2-23, 2019, the Third International Congress of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan was held in Tashkent.

This forum of oriental scholars from all over the world will open a grandiose Legacy Week “Uzbekistan is a Crossroads of Great Roads and Civilizations: empires, religions and cultures”. In turn, the Legacy Week is timed to coincide with the international conference "Preservation of Tangible and Intangible Cultural Legacy: current problems and strategies for their solution" which will be held in Samarkand under the auspices of UNESCO.

A presentation of a book-album in 20 volumes dedicated to the World Collection of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan took place at the congress. Leading experts from such countries as Uzbekistan, France, Great Britain, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Japan took part in the publication of these books.

On August 23, a solemn ceremony "Tashkent: the Star of the East" was held on behalf of the administration of the city of Tashkent.

Documentary films of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in the World Collections series were also shown at the Third International Congress, telling about the masterpieces of art of Uzbekistan in the museums of Poland, Great Britain, France, the USA and Uzbekistan, as well as in national museums.

At the same time, the ceremony of announcing the official registration of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan was held in Paris.

It should be noted that the Congresses of the World Society for the Preservation of the Study and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan are held annually as part of the international multimedia project "The Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in the World Collections" having no analogues in the world.

It is also worth noting that from August 22 to 27, the Legacy Week "Uzbekistan: the Crossroads of Great Roads and Civilizations: empires, religions and cultures" was held.

The event took place in four cities of the republic Tashkent, Termez, Samarkand and Bukhara.

More than 300 orientalists, UNESCO experts, as well as over 50 representatives of international media took part in the event.

On August 22, the Third International Congress of the World Society for the Preservation, Study and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan was held in Tashkent.

On August 24, Termez hosted the International archaeological and tourism forum "Uzbekistan: the Crossroads of Civilizations".

The International scientific conference of Islamic scholars "Light From the Depths of Centuries" will be held on August 25 in Samarkand.

On August 26, the International conference was held on the preservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage - current problems and strategies for their solution, at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, under the auspices of UNESCO, with the participation of Director General Audrey Azoulay.

The final event of the Week was the opening ceremony of the 12th International Music Festival "Sharq Taronalari"
