The book-album “Oriental miniature. Historical figures” opens a number of publications within the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in World Collections series in which the thematic issues will present certain genres in miniature painting. This volume presents a selection of portraits of prominent figures whose life and work were associated with the history of Uzbekistan. The first section is devoted to the rulers and members of various dynasties and the second one to the figures of science, culture and art. Kept in various museums and libraries around the world, these works clearly demonstrate the great interest in the portrait genre that existed in the art of the Islamic world.
