This book-album presents wonderful examples of calligraphy, ornamental art and book miniatures from the private collection of the author – Abdulgafur Razzoq Bukhari. Islamic scholar, famous calligrapher, teacher, connoisseur of oriental classical literature, he has been studying the art of oriental books for many years. Sheets with a variety of calligraphic handwritings framed by graceful patterns demonstrate the high skill of calligraphers and nakkosh artists from various art centers, both in Uzbekistan and abroad. Particular attention is drawn to the copies of the Holy Quran – they are united by the impeccability and sophistication of design. The miniature samples published in the book-album are not numerous but remarkable for their rhythmic structure, color and virtuoso drawing.
