VOLUME XXXII. THE CULTURAL LEGACY OF UZBEKISTAN IN ITALIAN COLLECTIONS
The book-album “The Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in Italian Collections” presents a variety of artifacts created in the past in the territory of Uzbekistan and now kept in museum and private collections in Milan, Turin, Firenze and Como. These are the ceramics of Afrasiab, architectural tiles of the Timurid period, magnificent suzani, striking in their beauty samples of clothing from the period of the late medieval Uzbek khanates and much more. A separate chapter is devoted to the only remained manuscript containing a translation into Hebrew of the full text of the “Canon of Medicine” by Abu Ali ibn Sina, which is now kept in Bologna.
The publication is intended not only for members of the academic research community, but also for broad domestic and foreign audiences, as well as the young generation who are interested in the rich cultural heritage of Uzbekistan. The project without any analogue in the world is being implemented due to the personal attention of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the issues of cautious preservation , enrichment and augmentation of the historical, cultural and intellectual legacy of the Uzbek people.
