After the independence of India in 1947 C.E. and the subsequent merger of the Rampur Estate to the Union of India, the Library was brought under the management of trust with Nawwāb Riḍā ʻAlī Khān as its president.
In 1957 C.E., the library was shifted to the magnificent Ḥāmid Manzil building – the Tāj Maḥalof Books. In 1975 C.E., Rampur Raza Library Act was enacted and the Central Government assuming full responsibility for the management of the Library, and also declared it an Institution of National Importance.
Today, it is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and a cherished-terminus for the researchers and orientalists. The library has been served by many scholars and distinguished personalities at its helm.
