In the first quarter of the 20th century the Museum received part of the archaeological collection of a member of the Turkestan Circle of Amateur Archaeologists, J. Castagne. In 1912 – 1916, he collected more than 500 items, which are currently included in twenty three collection inventories.
Among them are fragments of ceramic and glass vessels, copper tableware, lamps, terracotta figurines, adornments, etc. from the sites of Akhsiket, Nogai-kurgan, Shahrukhiya and Kanka, Ura-Tyube and Khojekent, Kalai-Mug near Kasan, Munchaktepa on the Angren River, the Kainar site near Penjikent, Termez, etc.
