Distinctive features of the dresses of Kashkadarya women

Women's clothing of Kashkadarya consisted of two types of dress-shirt: tuniclike, long, with wide sleeves sewn in a straight line, reaching to the knees, with embroidered ends, similar to Bukharian ones, or a spacious short one.

In some cities and districts, women put on several dresses at once (sometimes 3-4, which marked the social status of the woman). The sleeves of the white underwear were the longest and their ends like the hem were richly embroidered. The sleeves of the outerwear made of more expensive fabrics were wider and shorter, since the sleeves of the underwear should have peeked out from under them.

The neck of women's shirts was triangular or cape-shaped, while those of girls were horizontal. A wide braided braid or embroidery, which ran in two paths on both sides of the neck and, joining, going down before reaching the hem, was a ceremonial decoration of women's dresses. Its interior was filled with alternating ornamental motifs.

You will find more examples of national Uzbek clothes in the book-album "Traditional Uzbek costume on materials of museum and private collections of Uzbekistan (Part 2)" (volume XLIX) from the series "Cultural legacy of Uzbekistan in the world collections".
