Gift gold-embroidered robes

The art of gold embroidery – zarduzi – has existed in the territory of Uzbekistan since ancient times.

In these cultural monuments, the originality of the form and the originality of the art of embroidery are harmoniously combined. Among them – clothing items: men’s and women’s robes, sleeveless nimcha, belts, slippers, shoes, skullcaps; household items: curtains, bedspreads.

A particular interest is the Bukhara gold-embroidered robes zarchopon, which amaze with lush decorativeness and ornamental diversity, the robes do not repeat each other. Such robes were worn by the amirs of Bukhara and the palace nobility. The so-called gift robes, which were given by the amir as a sign of grace, were included in the list of ambassadorial gifts.

Nowadays, with the revival of national traditions and folk crafts, gold-embroidered men’s robes have become an indispensable part of the groom’s wedding suit; they are worn in especially solemn occasions, presented to honoured guests, and so on.
