World Society proceeded to work on the publication of "Korea and Central Asia on The Great Silk Road"

Chairman of the Board of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan Firdavs Abdukhalikov met with the Counselor of the Korean Embassy in Uzbekistan, Mr. Yun Zhi Wang and discussed with him the issues of the upcoming Silk Road Film Festival, within which the Days of Korean Cinema will be held.

A separate topic for discussion was the joint work on the publication of the book-album "Korea and Central Asia on the Great Silk Road", the presentation of which will take place by the end of 2021.

A preliminary catalog of objects and annotations to them has been compiled. The images were provided by the Gyeongju National Museum and the Central National Museum of Korea (Seoul), among them jewelry, weapons and various metal products, glass vessels, stone figurines and other rarities of the Kushan and Sogdian eras.

Mr. Yun Zhi Wang assured the leadership of the World Society to render every assistance in preparing the book-album for publication.  Today Uzbekistan has become a home for many Koreans who not only maintain strong ties with their historical homeland, but also develop their own national culture in our land, he said. The book will not only help readers from different countries learn about the historical ties of Koreans in Central Asia, but will also become interesting and useful for the Koreans of Uzbekistan, tell them about the role of their homeland on the Great Silk Road, which connected various cultures and peoples.

Recall that cultural ties between Korea and Central Asia have been traced since ancient times, which can be argued after the discovery of murals on the Afrosiab settlement in Samarkand: two figures on one of the murals were interpreted by the Uzbek Soviet archaeologist, art historian Lazar Izrailevich Albaum interpreted as an image of the ambassadors of the state of Goguryeo, which existed during the period of the three Korean states from the 1st century BC to the 7th century AD, and Buddhism, the main religion of Korea, came to the land of Korea precisely from Central Asia of the Kushan period, where it flourished precisely in those distant times.
