Visitors of the State Museum of the History of Uzbekistan may appreciate the art of Uzbek carvers on the way to the building.
On the northern facade of the museum building there are three monumental oak entrance doors made in the tradition of folk decorative art. Their author is the famous Kokand carver Kadyrjan Khaidarov. The surface of the rectangular leaf is richly decorated with carvings and covered with varnish. The ornamental composition is based on the Khiva samples, the distinctive feature of which is a large medallion in the center and its quarters in the corners. The medallion has a scalloped edge, pointed from above and below, inside it is filled with two-plane carving of a plant pattern.
The museum collections of woodcarving present both architectural details (columns, column bases, the door wings, etc.) and household items. The carved national tables by master Suleiman Khojaev are made in the pargori technique. The plant ornament islimi is typical for his apprentice Maksud Kasymov. He applied a new artistic technique, combining the woodcarving with panjara (lattice), which is inserted as separate pieces into a carved ornament for the first time. The panjara made by the talented carver Artyk Faizullaev, caskets by Khaidar Nazhmiddinov and the works of other carvers who truly gave the second life to the tree, are interesting and attractive. The collection numbers 417 items.
