The peculiar nature of Karakalpakstan with its pale colors captivated Igor Savitskiy as well.
It is in landscape genre he enabled fully to unlock his talent, his creative individuality. In his mature works of the late 1950 – 60s the skill is observed associated with the academic school. The artist depicts the nature in quite diverse ways yet having its character, for example, peacefully-harmonic (‘A Hot Noon’). In his paintings Igor Savitskiy preferred soft tonality and decorative value of color palette.
The canvases of the artist are epic and monumental in their own way, as well as full of bright sun light. Despite the small size and mainly etude character, they all demonstrate the exceptional professional skills of the author. In 1950 – 60s, Igor Savitskiy created a series of landscapes of architectural monuments of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan, including ‘Sunset in Karshi’, ‘Khiva. Grey Evening’, ‘Khiva. Elms’, ‘Yard of the Polvon Pir Ota Mausoleum’ of 1958, ‘Khiva. The First Sunrays’ of 1960, ‘Nursery’, ‘Square in Front of the Council of Ministers of 1958, ‘Yard in Front of the Council of Ministers’, ‘Spring Day’, ‘Evening’, and others.
