In Kyoto, at Miho Museum, Shigaraki, grand opening of the special exhibition “Treasures of Ancient Transoxiana” took place.
The ceremony was opened by Miho Ishimaru Tseun, deputy chairperson of the museum’s board, Sergei Laptev, special researcher at the museum, representatives of the Uzbek academic delegation.
At the opening ceremony, manager of Miho Museum and research director Inagaki Hajime made a welcoming speech.
The museum, on behalf of World Society for Study, Preservation and Popularization of Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan and the project “Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in World Collections” was presented with a set of 10 volumes of book albums, as well as a new volume dedicated to the treasures of Central Asia in the collections of Japan.
Hand – painted lagans made by Academician of Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, Sharafiddin Yusupov were presented as a gift to the museum. These works of art will now become an adornment of the Uzbek exposition of Miho Museum.
The meeting participants familiarized themselves with the special exposition opened on the occasion of media event “Uzbekistan and Japan on the Silk Road” in three halls of Miho Museum. After visiting the exhibition, guests were shown videos and rolls telling about the project and objects from Central Asia, which are stored in museums in Japan.
Delegation from World Society also visited Humanitarian Research Institute of Kyoto University. The deputy director of the institute, director of the information center at the Institute, Inaba Minoru, praised the attention of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev and the government of Uzbekistan to studying and popularization the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
“The work initiated by President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev to study and preserve the culture of his country is of lasting importance and high value for the peoples of not only Uzbekistan, but the whole world”, said Inaba Minoru in an interview. – “Of particular importance is the introduction by President of Uzbekistan in the book “Cultural Legacy of Central Asia in the Museums of Japan”.
