What is the superiority of the archaeological collection of the Karakalpakstan Museum of Art over other museum collections?‌‌

Today, the archaeological collection of the State Museum of Arts of Karakalpakstan named after I. V. Savitskiy has more than nine thousand items (9,134 items) in the main fund and 32,579 items in scientific and support funds.

The collection includes art and household products of ceramics, ganch, stone, bone, wood, metal, glass, leather and fabrics. Chronologically, the collection presents the archaeology of Karakalpakstan from the Bronze Age to the emergence of ancient states on the territory of Uzbekistan, one of which was the Ancient Khorezm.

It is worth mentioning the remarkable collection of the tiles, which served as the decoration of palaces, mosques, madrasahs and tombs. The tiles are covered with multi-colored complex painting of plant and geometric character and transparent glaze. On some of them one can see inscriptions in Arabic and dates. Thus, the archaeological collection of the Museum due to the number of exhibits and their high quality, as well as the uniqueness of some samples takes a worthy place among other museum collections.
