Among Zoroastrian burial items, there is a camel-shaped zoomorphic OSTADON lying there. It was found…
Mir Alisher Navoi, was an intimate associate of Sultan Husain b. Mansur b. Bayqara (r. 1469 – 1506), as well as his foster-brother, and trusted advisor.
His family had always been in the service of the Timurid house. He acquired the title Mir, when Sultan Husain appointed him to the rank of amir or beg (mansab-i imarat) of the divan-i ala in 876 (1472). He relinquished his amirship, however, in 892 (1487) together with other positions he held, such as the governorship of Astarabad, even though he continued to retain the title. He had been in Sultan Husain’s service from childhood and had followed him on many occasions proving his loyalty.
As a result, he was trusted with all weighty matters of state, given the honorific title of muqarrab-i hazrat-i sultani (the confidant of the sultan) and with his resignation from the amirship, had become even more favored at court. Sources refer to his enormous wealth, which, together with his own interest in the arts, allowed him to exercise extensive patronage of the cultural life at the Herat court of Sultan Husain.
