What was used to decorate the interior of dwellings in urban centers of Uzbekistan?

Traditional embroidery is the most common type of handicraft in Uzbekistan.

In the collection of the State Museum of Arts, this craft is represented the most – with 1500 items in storage. The large decorative embroidery of the city centres of Uzbekistan is represented by several types: suzani (wall panel, coverlet), nimzusani (wall panel), ruijo, joypush, yakkandoz and choyshab (bedspreads and sheets), takiyapush (pillowcase), oy-palyak and gulkurpa (Tashkent suzani variants), sandalpush (sandalwood cover), zardevor, dorpech or kirpech (embroidery for decorating walls), joynamaz (prayer rug), beshikpush (bedspread for a cradle), etc.

You can learn more about this topic in the book-album “The Collection of the State Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan”  (Volume XIII) from the series “Cultural legacy of Uzbekistan in the world collections”.
