Why were the inscriptions in the crypt of Amir Temur not completed?

Researchers from the "Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan" publication of the "Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in World Collections" project have attempted to determine why the inscriptions carved on the walls of the stone tomb built by Amir Temur for himself in the city of Shahrisabz, Kashkadarya region, were not completed.

The researchers noted that the inscriptions are framed in rectangular frames (large cartouches), arranged in rows, and have significant losses. According to their observations, the work on the decorative design of the tombstone was not completed. Researchers believe that the aforementioned events related to the change in Amir Temur's burial place were the cause.

The photo shows the order of the inscriptions, which corresponds to the order of the texts presented on the edge of the sarcophagus lid.
