In Tokyo, media event “Uzbekistan and Japan on the Great Silk Road” of the project "Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in World Collections” came to conclusion.

More than 230 representatives of government bodies, academic and research circles, public, and mass media from Japan took part in this event. Its bright, final chord was a gala evening at Tokyo Imperial Hotel.

The program of the evening media event included the presentation of two documentaries – “Silk Strings” and “Magic of Uzbek Dance”, a performance by the dutarist of one of the winners of “Shosh Maqom” International Contest held in Shakhrisabz in 2018, Maschu Komazdaki and Uzbek dance performer Aiko Takeuchi.

The Japanese guests danced tirelessly to the fiery Uzbek music, fascinatedly watched the dances of the Uzbek dancers and were delighted with the traditional Uzbek cuisine – pilaf.

“It is through national customs and gastronomic traditions that one can most fully recognize the culture of another country. I am pleased to note that the ancient and richest culture of Uzbekistan unites all the guests of today’s event. It is of particular importance as a demonstration of the reforms carried out by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at widespread international cooperation in various fields of public life, desire to popularize and present the richest traditions of Uzbek culture in the international arena”, said the chairperson of World Society for Study, Preservation and Popularization of Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan, Firdavs Abdukhalikov.

Last evening was preceded by a series of events and ceremonies.

The participants of the media event expressed hope for the continuation of the academic and cultural exchange, and shared their views on the cultural event.

– “The prosperity of Uzbekistan is not only the task of one country, but it is important for the whole world,” noted the first Japanese ambassador to Uzbekistan, Magosaki Ukeru, in his interview. – This happens in a difficult time for world geopolitics. In Uzbekistan, almost everyone speaks several languages. Uzbekistan is a melting pot of many nations, ethnicities and cultures, and it is precisely such diversity that is required today for the modern world. With all my heart, I wish Uzbekistan further prosperity!

“In April 2019, rectors of 13 Japanese universities visited Uzbekistan and held an academic council”, said Nakamura Hiroyuki, a deputy in the lower house of the Japanese parliament. – I, as a representative of a scientific and technical university, made the head of the delegation, and in Uzbekistan we had a very warm welcome. Then we received an application about the need to provide a specialist in kendo – Japanese art of sword possession. From this moment we began a practical exchange in the intellectual and cultural sphere with Uzbek educational institutions. I believe that the official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Japan will serve to strengthen and further develop relations between the two countries, including in the humanitarian sphere.

The event was organized by World Society for Study, Preservation and Popularization of Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan, National Association of Electronic Mass Media of Uzbekistan, with the support of Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, State Committee for Tourism Development, Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, oilfield services company ERIELL Group
