Rare exhibits from Uzbek collection of National Museum of History of Azerbaijan to be first published by World Society

This was agreed during a meeting between Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Chairman of the Board of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan, and Velikhanli Naila Mammadali kyzy, director of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan.
"We enthusiastically responded to the proposal of the World Society to create a book-album telling about the Uzbek collection. The rare and unique exhibits that are kept in our museum deserve to be reflected on the pages of the new book, and this step would once again emphasize the friendship and strong historical ties between our peoples in the past and in the present," said the director of the museum, Naila Mammadali kyzy.

The curator of the volume and the chief curator of the museum, associate professor Makhfuza Gaji kyzy Zeynalova says the museum keeps a unique collection of items made by Uzbek masters, consisting of more than 260 exhibits. "Numismatic material makes up most of the collection. The museum's special pride is a photo portrait of the Emir of Bukhara, Said Mir Abdul Ahad Khan (1885-1910). In the left corner of the photo there is an inscription: 'English photography. Baku,' which indicates that the photo was taken during one of the visits of the Emir to Baku," she noted.
The gifts of the Emir of Bukhara – a case for the Koran made of gilded silver, as well as a silver service with gilt, enameled, decorated with blackening and engraving, which are kept in a special department of the museum, deserve special attention.
