Did you know the Russian National Library in St. Petersburg contains works by Alisher Navoi?

The Department of Manuscripts at the Russian National Library has been steadily acquired new items since its foundation.

Currently, its oriental collection numbers 28,000 items, including 29 lists of works by Alisher Navoi, 14 of them dated to the 15th-16th centuries.

The first manuscript by Navoi was acquired by the library in 1817 as part of the collection of Pyotr Kozmich Frolov, mining engineer, head of the Kolyvan-Voskresensk factories in Barnaul.  In December 1829, the Chagatai-Turkish dictionary for the works of Navoi, Abushka was received. It was bought in the city of Erzurum during the Russian-Turkish war.
