In the center of squinches, located between the archivolts the arched niches of the crypt of Amir Temur, created during his lifetime and located in the city of Shahrisabz, Kashkadarya region, there are pointed medallions with epigraphic compositions and floral ornamentation carved inside.
The letters are large, diacritic points are irregular. The writing style: decorative versions of thuluth and kufic. Formulas praising Allah (Tamjid) are engraved inside the medallions. The writing is magnificently executed thuluth. That is:
Hail Allah, Praise to Allah, there is no god but Allah, Allah is Great.
In the upper parts of these formulas there are fragments of phrases written in kufic muvarraka style. According to research by the publication “Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan” of the project “Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in the World Collections”, it was not possible to read them completely, with the exception of the word “Allah”.
