About the trip of the pioneer of color photography Prokudin-Gorsky to Turkestan

1911 and 1912 was the period of professional activity for Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorsky as a photographer and publisher.

He managed to get an order for color illustrations for a book-album in honor of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty.

The trips of the photographer within the framework of the order covered the only region, very remote Turkestan.

During the trip, Prokudin-gorsky also gave public reports. His photographs were displayed in the Khiva cinema in Tashkent, and the raised money was donated to victims of an earthquake in the Semirechye region.
