Etruscan fresco reveals hidden images of the underworld

Italian scientists re-examined the Etruscan fresco using the method of hyperspectral extraction with multiple illumination. This method reveales ancient images that are not visible to human eyes.

The multiple illumination hyperspectral extraction method consists of multiple photography that are made from a different range. Next, the photographs are processed by a statistical algorithm created by the Italian National Research Council.
 

7 5,500-year-old tombs excavated in southeastern Poland

One of the largest megalithic burials in Eastern Europe was found by archaeologists in southeastern Poland. 7 tombs of 5500 years old have been excavated. The tombs were located to the west of Sandomierz city, not a far from Debyany village. Unlike the stone megalithic tombs found in northern Poland, these tombs were made of wood, using limestone in the burial chamber.

 

3500 year old papyrus with information about mummification was deciphered by Egyptologists

Researchers of Copenhagen University have deciphered a recently found 3,500-year-old ancient Egyptian papyrus. It turned out that the ancient document is a short but detailed enough instruction on the embalming of the bodies of the dead.

A small report about the document was published on the university website. The found papyrus called the Louvre-Carlsberg was deciphered by Egyptologist Sophie Shedt. This name was given because one part of the document is in the Louvre, and the second is in the collection of Carlsberg papyri in Denmark.
