Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan, Tanzilya Narbayeva, presented the books of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan in World Collections project to the Library of the USA Congress

The delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis T. Narbayeva visited the Library of Congress in Washington, where a meeting was held with the director of the library Dr. Carla Hayden, and the book series of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan in World Collections project was presented.

The Director of the Library of Congress expressed her deep gratitude, and also noted the high effectiveness of the initiatives by the President of Uzbekistan Sh. M. Mirziyoyev in the preservation, protection, study and wide popularization of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.

Now the visitors to the Library of Congress have access to the printed edition of the unique collection of albums from the series. It is important that one of the albums titled S. M. Prokudin-Gorsky and His Turkestan Series of Photographs in the Library of Congress is dedicated to the collection of the Library of Congress.

The album presents the best examples of historical photographs by one of the most famous photographers of the early 20th century. Thanks to the acquisition of the master's legacy by the Library of Congress in 1948, it has survived to the present day and is widely in demand by researchers and publishers. Along with photographs, this edition brings for the first time into academic use new archival documents dedicated to the trips of S. M. Prokudin-Gorsky in 1909-1912 in the Russian Empire and specifies his biography. Special emphasis in the book is placed on the history of his photographing in Turkestan in 1906 and 1911 (three trips in one year) and his supposed trip to the region in 1905.
