Ruidjo - the mystery of family happiness

Ruidjo is not just an element of textile, but a symbol of tradition and culture, which plays an important role in the life of newlyweds. An embroidered sheet, sewn from four strips of cotton fabric, is a work of art in which every detail matters.

The embroidery, made with silk, using bosma, yurma and ilmok stitches, demonstrates the skill of the needlewomen. The contours of the patterns and compositions, reminiscent of prayer rugs, emphasize the spiritual aspect of this product. The niche, which remains unembroidered, symbolizes holiness and protection, and the patterns along the edges add aesthetic completeness.

The main motifs - large flower rosettes and small flowers - create a harmonious combination, and the flower bushes "growing" from the corners of the central field give the ruidjo a unique character. The holes and stains on the base canvas indicate the time and history of the product, and the unfinished embroidery with orange threads indicates the transfer of traditions to future generations.

The fringe and lining, sewn on later, also emphasize the individuality of the work. The asymmetry of the pattern is a characteristic feature of handicrafts and gives them a special charm. All these elements make the ruigi not only a functional item, but also a valuable artifact reflecting cultural heritage and family traditions.
