Did you know that the Jarkurgan minaret is located 60 kilometers from the city of Termez?!

The architectural monument dates back to the 12th century, which was established from the deciphered inscription on the building.

The structure belonged to a large cathedral mosque built of baked bricks.

Although it is almost a thousand years old, the minaret is in a very good state. Among the elements that have survived is the colored ceramic mosaic.

The minaret consists of 16 semi-columns that close together to form a star.

Researchers believe that the original height of the minaret was more than 40 m. The structure had a second tier topped with a lantern.

Today, the minaret is one of the oldest in Central Asia.

We offer a special podcast dedicated to the Jarkurgan minaret
