Sergey Laptev: "The museum of the Center for Islamic Civilization will feature a unique numismatic collection"

For several days, a conference dedicated to the Third Renaissance has been taking place. I gave a lecture on numismatics, which was not just a talk, but a speech focused on the formation of the collection of the Center for Islamic Civilization. Personally, I believe that a coin collection should be included in the collection of the Center for Islamic Civilization. This is very important, not only from the perspective of historical science. Numismatics is a popular and beloved hobby for many people. Many collect coins. If the center forms such a collection, people will come to see it, and seminars, lectures, and symposia on coins can be held. Through this, they will learn more about the Center for Islamic Civilization. In a way, it can become an element that brings visitors closer to the center.

Today, we provided information on coins minted after the Timurid era and their main types. We hope to create a large collection at the Center for Islamic Civilization with their participation. The National Bank or the center itself could also provide rare coins. If this happens, the collection will be divided into four eras according to the concept of the museum of the center. This is because the respected President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in the concept for the development of the center, outlined four main sections: the pre-Islamic period, the post-Islamic period, and the eras of the second and third renaissances. Thus, our coin collection will also be divided into these four periods.
