The famous Chust skullcap

The shape, colour and ornament of the skullcap reflect the peculiarities of the way of life of the population of a particular area.

here are six main groups of skullcaps: Tashkent, Fergana, Samarkand, Bukhara, Kashkadarya-Surkhandarya and Khorezm-Karakalpak.

The famous Chust tus duppi skullcap has a black background and a white pattern of four pods of kalampir pepper, on the cap band – a series of sixteen arches. The Chust skullcap acquired the value of the national headwear for men. Chust skullcaps made in Namangan are characterized by short and steeply curved ornamental elements (full almonds with a short and sharply bent tendril) and a considerable height of the cap-band. Pepper pods on the Margilan skullcap of Chust type are elongated, smooth and thin.
