The history of the skullcap goes into deep antiquity.
Witnesses of this are preserved wall paintings of the 6th – 7th centuries, early medieval terracotta statues, coins and miniatures of the 15th – 16th centuries.
The development of the art of the skullcap reached the culmination at the end of the 19th – mid 2 0th centuries. During this period, elegant and original copies were created, reflecting the main aesthetic ideals of the era. At this time, the skullcaps were worn by almost all the indigenous people of Uzbekistan: men, girls, young women and children. The only exception was older women.
The wide popularization of skullcaps gave their tailoring a massive character. A huge number of craftswomen inherited the traditions of embroidery of previous generations and developed in them features that corresponded to their own understanding of the beauty.
