JAPAN BECOMES ACQUINTED WITH “SECRETS OF UZBEK DANCE”

National Agency “Uzbekkino”, together with Japanese cinematographers, presented a new documentary called “Secrets of Uzbek Dance” as part of the media event “Uzbekistan and Japan on the Great Silk Road” which took place in Tokyo on December 16. The main character of the film, choreographer and performer of Uzbek traditional dances, Aiko Takeuchi, took part in a media event and performed beautiful national dances for all guests.

Aiko Takeuchi, choreographer of Japan Art Academy of Dance, has been dancing since the age of 20. Having carefully mastered Japanese national and modern dances, she learns about Indian, Egyptian and other eastern countries and their dance culture.

Having first arrived to Uzbekistan in 2011, she was forever fascinated by the secrets of national dance. According to the dancer, she never saw such beautiful performances in any country dance, especially in such famous dances as “Tanovar”, “Munozhot”, “Lazgi”. In the beginning, she had difficulties in acquiring these skills. “Each gesture in the Uzbek dance, subtle hand movements and even a look have their own meaning. Without knowing this or not understanding, it is very difficult to perform the Uzbek national dance”, – noted Aiko Takeuchi. Aiko Takeuchi founded an Uzbek dance ensemble in Japan, called “Great Silk Road”. According to the dancer, “Uzbek dance is what I have been looking for years and finally found!”
