The collection of documents is divided into two groups - until 1920 and after it. The documents of the first group mainly include:

- certificates of khans on appointments to the position, benefits, sale of state lands, etc.;
- vacation letters - documents for property and lands issued in favor of religious institutions;
- legal documents - Kazi documents; documents concerning sale, mortgage, rental, etc.

Documents after 1920:

- various documents of the Khorezm People's Soviet Republic,
- archives of the famous people of Khorezm.

The collection of rare books also consists of two groups: manuscripts and lithographic books.

Although manuscripts are extremely valuable due to their small amount, lithography is also important in their uniqueness.

We should note that the Khiva Khanate was the first in Central Asia in 1874 to introduce a way to print books by lithography.
