Zangi-Ota memorial complex is one of the most historical places in Uzbekistan
Zangi-Ota mausoleum is a majestic complex including a minaret, Namazgokh mosque, an inner courtyard and residential rooms. It was built in the nineties of the 14th century.
Legend or how construction began
It is believed that this building was erected by Amir Timur himself. According to the legend, Amir Timur first intended to build a mausoleum dedicated to another saint - Ahmad Yassaviy, but the walls of the future mausoleum were crumbling all the time and the construction did not move forward.
Then Amir Timur saw a dream where Yassaviy himself appeared and said that it was Zangi-Ota to be immortalized first. Thus, Amir Timur began construction on Zangi-Ota's burial place.
