Important event in academic world: participants of 6th Congress highly appreciated efforts by President and Government of Uzbekistan to preserve cultural heritage
The participants of the 6th International Congress Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan – the Foundation of a New Renaissance and members of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan approved the final Declaration in the Registan Square.
The final document emphasizes: "Following direct initiative by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev, the foundation of a New Renaissance is being laid in Uzbekistan, which is also expressed in the fundamental transformations in the spiritual and educational sphere."
The researchers also noted that large-scale events in the field of humanities and culture are being organized and held in Uzbekistan, and a state program has been adopted for 10 years to improve the work of state museums and strengthen their material and technical base in 2017-2027. The establishment of 7 new museums in Samarkand this year exemplifies it in the best way. The Silk Road International University of Tourism was opened.
The ceremonial election of Uzbekistan as a member of the UNESCO Committee for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage, held in Paris at the 8th session of the General Assembly of the Member States of the Convention "On the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage" became an extremely important recognition of the country's efforts aimed at preserving the unique cultural heritage of the past centuries.
"For the six years that the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan has been active, 60 volumes of an exclusive international series, Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan in World Collections, have been published. Work continues on the series Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan and Culture and Science of Uzbekistan in the Works of Scholars, over 60 films have been shot, many media forums have been held in Uzbekistan and abroad. All this fruitful action program, ensuring a productive dialogue between researchers, would have been impossible without the support of the President and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, socially responsible business represented by Eriell Group, a number of international humanitarian organizations," the declaration says.
In addition, the members of the World Society have highly appreciated the organization of the 6th International Congress Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan – the Foundation of a New Renaissance held on July 22-24 this year. They called it an important event in the academic world, where 350 participants came from 32 countries. More than 100 reports were read, round tables and sessions were held.
It was emphasized that researchers from almost all Central Asian states took part in the work of the 6th Congress for the first time.
For reference: More than 350 people took part in the Congress. They included world-famous orientalists, 6 heads of international organizations, 50 directors of famous international museums, 15 academicians, 25 professors, 22 doctors of sciences, as well as museum workers, media representatives covering culture and art, media personalities interested in studying and preserving the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
The World Society was founded by the project Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan in World Collections and officially registered in Paris in 2018. The general sponsor of the project is the oilfield services company Eriell Group. Also, along with the World Society, Eriell Group is the organizer of the Congress.
