Acquaintance with the keepers of centuries-old traditions
Today's issue under the heading “Acquaintance with the keepers of centuries-old traditions” is dedicated to one of the last representatives of Bukhara male gold-embroiderers, Nurmukhammad bobo.
He, like the great Bukhara usto Shirin Muradov, created his own school in the field of gold embroidery. The master preserved the historical styles of Bukhara gold embroidery: zarduzi-zaminduzi, zarduzi-gulduzi, zarduzi-kubbaduzi, zarduziberishimduzi.
He used gold, silver, silk threads. The assortment of the master's products is diverse: decorative panels, dressing gowns, vests, skullcaps, small items.
His works are distinguished by high technique of execution, thin seam, compositional integrity.
Thanks to the efforts of the master and his students, the Bukhara school of gold embroidery has survived and is now developing.
The master passed away in 2014.
It has to be noted that Bukhara is the largest center for gold embroidery in Uzbekistan. In the medieval period, only men were engaged in gold embroidery.
Legend
There was a legend according to which the beauty of a woman always won in the rivalry of female beauty and the beauty of gold, therefore men were engaged in gold embroidery in Bukhara.
